I Love! – Tuesday Tune, vol 115

I'm brushing up on my country music.  Why, do you ask?  Well, because any seasoned listener of music should brush up on some country.  And once the music repertoire is bushed up with country, it's time to julienne some jazz, caramelize it with classical, and fold it in with a dollop of dissolved disco.

After you've done all that, puree some punk, roast a bunch of reggae, splatter with a smidgin of synthpop, and coat it all with celtic.  Roll out some rock, nice and thick, toss with techno, then bake it on something really high like "11".  While that's baking, make sure to baste it with the blues to make sure it won't go dry on you.

Think you can get out of the kitchen now?  Oh no, there's more.  Much, much more.

If you're in the mood for something new, you can fry up some fusion with a side of bluegrass that's been boiled in a thick and saucy reduction of rap.  There's also the option of pop, pitted and pickled, or marinated it in a metal meuniere, blanched with baroque, and garnished with grunge.  Yum.  There's also the traditional – just flambe any old folk you have laying around and serve it with gospel au gratin.

Anyway, I was brushing up on some country today.  I was also brushing up on my glossary of cooking terms.  Because obviously I have nothing better to do.

Thanks to Vera, I found a little treasure called I Love by Tom T. Hall.  It's classic country, and a reminder of how much fun it is to love the simple things – like all the many methods in which music can be minced.

I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and rain
I love little country streams, sleep without dreams, sunday school in may,
And hay
And I love you too

I love leaves in the wind, pictures of my friends, birds in the world, and squirrels
I love coffee in a cup, little fuzzy pups, bourbon in a glass,
And grass
And I love you too

I love honest open smiles, kisses from a child, tomatoes on the vine, and onions
I love winners when they cry, losers when they try, music when it's good,
And life
And I love you too
