Tuesday Tune, vol 56 - 80s Love Songs

Today's Tuesday Tunes are a collection of 80s love songs within the new wave-ish genre.  I started this playlist with hopes of giving you ALL the love songs from ALL the 80s, but there are just so many love songs from the 80s. I had to pare it down. Perhaps next time, I'll provide 80s love songs of the hair-band genre.  Perhaps.  I'm not promising anything.

Speaking of love, and things that go with love (like dates), did you know that my favorite date with Spouse is a bike ride? It's true. Check it out:

Did you know that my favorite double date with Spouse is a bike ride? It's true. Check it out:

Did you know that this is what I look like when someone has a mechanical? It's true. Check it out:

I'm not much use on a bike ride. Heck I can't even keep up. What I can do, however, is provide dashing love songs, in the new wave-ish genre, from the 80s.  Check it out:

If You Were Here - Thompson Twins
Our Lips Are Sealed - The Go-Go's
The Ghost In You - The Psychedelic Furs
Lips Like Sugar - Echo and The Bunnymen
It's All I Can Do - The Cars
A Question Of Lust - Depeche Mode
Save A Prayer - Duran Duran
Oh l'Amour - Erasure
The One Thing - INXS
Take My Breath Away - Berlin
Love Vigilantes - New Order
Pretty In Pink - The Psychedelic Furs
Only You - Yaz
TRUE - Spandau Ballet
Careless Whisper - George Michael
I Melt With You - Modern English
More Than This - Roxy Music
Friday I'm In Love - The Cure
With Or Without You - U2
Space Age Love Song - A Flock Of Seagulls
Crazy For You - Madonna

I hate that I feel like I have a diaper on when I wear bike shorts. So awkward. I also dislike SPDs. Your mechanical photo, yeah that is how I spend a good chunk of my bike rides.

Guessing Love Bites would go under Break Up songs of the 80s huh?

Love the list and love the group therapy posts. Sorry about the lack of comments.

Makes me feel like I should watch "The Wedding Singer" again. Love that movie as much as I love this play list. The 80s were just a great time for music.

@Lars: Trust me, after a few hours, you are very grateful for that diaper. True bike seats are barely bigger than your hand and are as hard as a rock.

@Rabbid. love the list. Glad these pics illustrate a new chapter in your life. Much more colorful.

This may technically be a 90's song. It is close but a great band none the less. Oingo Boingo We close our eyes. Somehow I ended up seeing most of the bands on your list. The good old days at Park West, The Indian Center, and the Fair Grounds.

"a mechanical", what is that? Or do mean a mechanic. You lay there while Rabid Spouse fixes your flat tire.

Like your pictures!

Lars, I had Love Bites on the list, but figured they were a hair-band, so perhaps that will come later. The hair bands were good at break-up tunes, so maybe it'll be a 80s-break-up-hair-band-love-song playlist. The diaper-situation is all about the chamois. Find a good, tight-fitting chamois and you won't feel the diaper. But don't run in 'em. That's not comfortable. Or cool, actually. Learned that the hard way (grin.)

Winder, I talk to you almost every-other-day, no need to leave a comment. Unless of course you want what you say to go down in history, or ruffle a feather or two (grin.)

360, indeed, the last chapter (ten years) of my life chapter have been pretty dang good. My recent blast-from-the-past is not indicative of a downward slump of any sort. On the contrary, actually, I've finally gathered the confidence to look at directly. I'm gonna look at it good 'n hard, then say good-bye. Now I need to say something funny, so as to end your addressment (not a word, maybe that's the funny), with a (grin.)

Blackdog, Boingo fan, eh? I like the Boingo. I like anything Danny Elfman. I only see movies that feature Elfman scores. I buy all of Danny boy's soundtracks. He's quite frankly the Mozart of our time. He and Wolfy both have eyes that say "crazed musical maniac." What/where is the Indian center? And using a term like Park West dates yourself. I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd there (grin.)

Tom, you and your dates with Spouse. You have no idea what kind of jealous bitch I've been all these years (grin.)

Bendone, isn't a flat-tire considered a mechanical? (Grin.)

I really hate to brag, but I'm going to. This playlist is by far my best creation to date. (As far as playlists go anyways.) I've listened to it three times today!

Do you know how old this post makes me feel? I see the title and think "Awesome! I went to high school in the 80s. I got married in the late 80s. I'll like these." I don't think I've heard ANY of them.

rabidrunner said...

RJM, that's really saying something, isn't it? It's saying you weren't cool in the 80s. (Grin.)

Hey, that's been one of our best dates lately, the bike ride. Glad that you are getting out and enjoying the bike. And I love the music. I haven't heard "Only You" for a long time. It brings back such memories - it is on of the songs on our wedding video. Thanks!!! I loved the post.
