The Tired and Hungry Hour(s)

September 28, 2006

Lately I've studied the hour at my house known as the "Tired and Hungry" hour. I call it a mere hour because that sounds positive. It's more like 1:00pm 'til 9:00pm EVERY DAY. This microcasm I witness each day has lead me to believe that on a grander scale, all things catostrophic and/or chaotic occur during said hour(s). Wars are enacted, divorces are decided upon, cars are wrecked, items of great importance are ruined, limbs are lost, murders are committed. You get the picture. At my house, there are loud words and feelings of endless doom.

Maybe the key to world peace would be a nice helping of cajun crusted salmon, mashed red potatoes with lots of garlic, focaccia, and a lovely mixed green salad with fresh crumbled blue cheese.

The "I'm Never Going to Europe" Life Metaphor

September 11, 2006

It's been a while. I've been doing lots of laundry, lots of pickin' up after yay-hoos, and some running. Yesterday, I was in the car with my mom. She is finalizing the last minute details of her trip to Europe. You know, the important stuff like tiny shampoo bottles and lipstick that doubles as a razor and re-usable prophylactic. It was at this point that I realized I most likely will never make it to Europe. It's not that I want to per se.... I just have the limitation thereof. And thus, I started to see all of the other stuff I cannot do even if I wanted.

And so, that's my new saying for when I feel beyond trapped (which happens frequently as I do not appreciate the caged rat feeling - at least rats get cheese without having to pay for it): I cannot watch a danged TV show uninterupted and I'm never going to Europe.
